“Determined, Dedicated, Destined to Succeed” was the theme as 394 MCC graduates gathered to receive their diplomas and share their success with family, friends, faculty, staff, and community members. The total number of graduates for the summer, fall and spring semesters of the 2007-08 school year was about 3,000.  Commencement speaker Mark Milliron, an MCC alumnus and President and CEO of Catalyze Learning International, addressed the graduates. MCC student speaker was Stephen Hill.

Essie Zulu – Molecular Bio Science Program

“The MCC experience has been great for me.  The classes were small, so I had one-to-one interaction with my teachers which has helped me get good grades.  I’m in Phi Theta Kappa and graduating with a 3.8 GPA.”

Jessica Wettje – Red Mountain, Gen. Studies at MCC, Human Nutrition at ASU East

“MCC helped me get ready for my bachelor's program with all the prerequisites I need for it.”

John Halk - English Major
“Everything about MCC I really liked. The classes were really good with a lot of fun people here. It is a good step between high school and the university. One of my favorite teachers was Dr. Bob Baron, who dresses up for Halloween and comes in with crazy ties or crazy mugs. He is brilliant. I’m going to ASU in the fall in English, then on to the Marine Corps as an officer.

Rob Webb - Engineering Major
“My experience was really great here. I had a lot of great classes and I loved the one-on-one contact with my teachers. I thought it was a great decision to come here rather than straight to a university. I definitely think I got a better education.”

“I really enjoyed the teachers here.  They really enhanced my knowledge on specific topics that I really wanted to know about; Keith Heffner with his music and Bob Baron with his enthusiasm toward any type of film.”

Forest Washington - Associate in Arts, transfer to ASU this fall.

“At MCC I was able to gain knowledge and direction. I took random electives and requirements to find out what interests me most. Luckily, I found it right here at Dobson and Southern before I had to move on elsewhere. I am a kinesiology major and hope to become a coach for athletics.”

Shanisha George - Early Childhood Education

“The teachers make the classroom feel comfortable and enjoyable; you learn and are able to talk. I just started NAU for my bachelor's in early childhood education and I’d like to open my own school after I get my master's.”
